Beth's story
The story behind Coastal Calm Birth
Becoming a midwife wasn't simply choosing a career – it was finding something I truly love.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of families through pregnancy, birth and the early days of parenthood. I've worked across home birth, midwife-led units, antenatal and postnatal wards, labour ward and now as a community caseloading midwife, caring for women throughout their pregnancy journey. Every experience has reinforced the same belief: when parents feel informed, supported and genuinely listened to, they approach birth with greater confidence and a much calmer mindset.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career was working within a continuity of care team dedicated to improving maternity outcomes for Black, Asian and ethnic minority women. It reinforced my belief that every family deserves personalised, compassionate care that respects their individual needs, values and choices, regardless of their background or birth preferences.
Alongside my clinical experience, I've continued to develop my knowledge and skills to offer the very best support to the families I work with. I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) Degree in Midwifery, I'm a qualified Hypnobirthing Practitioner, and I also hold a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, which has strengthened my ability to support families with empathy, understanding and confidence.
As much as I love being a midwife, I realised there was something missing. So many parents were arriving at birth feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice, uncertainty and fear. I wanted to create a space where there was time to answer every question, build confidence and help families prepare emotionally as well as practically — outside of a busy clinic environment.
That's why I created Coastal Calm Birth. My courses combine evidence-based antenatal education with practical hypnobirthing techniques in a relaxed, welcoming environment. They're not about telling you how your birth should look — they're about giving you the knowledge, confidence and tools to make informed decisions and feel prepared for whatever path your birth takes.
Based on the beautiful Norfolk coast, I offer both in-person and online courses, making personalised birth preparation accessible wherever you are. Whether you're preparing for your first baby or welcoming another into your family, my goal is always the same: to help you approach birth feeling calm, informed, empowered and excited to meet your baby.
